Welcome

Thanks for checking out my work. I appreciate the kind words shared by people visiting this site and try to post new caricatures every week.
I have been drawing all my life, but in 2008 I found the International Society of Caricature Artists
and fell in love with caricatures. I work everyday to improve and hopefully you can see improvements from my first posts here on this blog.
Within the last months (as of August 09) I have stated working on commissions for private parties and corporations. I hope to continue to grow and produce works of art for magazines and other publications.
If your interested, please contact me.
I also do dj and karaoke work. You can also find me on facebook.

Weekend Review

So this week the weekend started Thursday with a night at Ron's Place. The former Roadhouse, which was the former Hill Valley Hotel. History lesson. It was a mess because had computer problems, but a giant thanks for the understanding crowd. This week will be better, I dropped 90 bucks on heavy duty wires for the Karaoke, which was thee problem.
Friday night was another great night at the Mount Union VFW. Second week of qualifying for the contest which is now in progress. Even though the roads were not great, we still had a big crowd and lots of singer. Oh and just to clears something up. When i do karaoke, i make a list. As people say they would like to sing, I add them to the bottom of the list. I follow that list. If someone walks in and wants to be added to the list and i am on the last person in the list, they sing next. If i am on the first person in the list they must wait til i get to them in the list. That is the way i have always done it and how i will continue to do it. Thanks for understanding.

Saturday I was at the Rockhill Orbisonia Legion for a birthday part. I thought it was a 16 year old. NOT! Here are a couple pics from the event. The first picture is of the Birthday Girl! Thanks for having me and I hope you had a great time. As you can see from the second shot, there was a lot of singing going on. A special thanks to the Rochill Orby Legion.

Sunday i wanted to relax so i headed for State College. I forgot about THON going on until all the traffic started to get bad. It is the dance marathon and when it ended at 4 the traffic started to get bad. I was hoping to go see the end but i was busy drawing a restaurant. I did a bunch of little drawing, but as i was about to leave, my waitress came and ask me to do a caricature of her. As i explained, i was just learning this whole thing. She said it was ok, so i did a the caricature. By the way. If you look at her chin and look at the drawing, she told me to make sure i got the chin that looks like a butt, so i made it more like a butt and less like her chin. Here it is. She took it and a bunch of guys saw it. One of the guys wanted one done, so i took the challenge. I thought it looked better then than i do now, but getting over the fear of doing them live is going to take a while. I think it looks like him, but i would feel better if i would have done some things differently. Oh well, live and learn.

Speaking of that, i registered a new domain name. Carickature.com. Not much there yet but i plan on getting it going soon.

I almost forgot. I saw something as rare as seeing bigfoot. Vicki without kids in a restaurant.

The New Friday is Thursday

So I played the Roadhouse last night. Thursday. It was a good crowd considering the weather and it being the first time. Only problem was my computer. It would not send a signal to the TV. Marty, Wane and I worked on that thing for three hours before giving up. People came up where the computer was and sang off the computer monitor. Sorry about the problems. We'll work it out for next week.
When i got awake after the computer not working, I hooked it p here at my home. It worked! I did go and get new and spare wired to connect to a tv, just in case.

Oh and the trip home last night sucked! The picture above is what the roads were like the whole way from Mount Union to Huntingdon!

Quick Caricature before bed. And a little Eclipse

Here is a quick caricature of a friend Bill. Oh yea, I was outside during the lunar eclipse. I took some photos of it. It was cool for the first 30 minutes then i got cold and came inside. HA!

Cartoon

Ok. I am into the political thing. I was thinking as listening to Obama promise everything and the kitchen sink. We might regret what we ask for.

Another day andother Caricature

I posted on my myspace page a few days back that if anyone wanted me to do a caricature of them , I would. (this is a limited time offer and time has expired! I got too many requests) So this is another one of the caricatures i did from a photo

DIfferent Styles? Or finding my own?

I am still working this caricature thing, trying to find what is right and what is not. I did a quick one with the new Wacom pen. This is ok, but not what my ideal caricature would look like. It is my nephew. Not that there is anything wrong with the way he looks. It is my drawing that i am not happy with. Oh well.

Weekend Recap

So the weekend went by in a flash which i guess is a good thing. Friday night at the Mount Union VFW it was round 1 of the karaoke contest. Three weeks of qualifying and then a semi final round and a final round. You can see from some of the photos i am posting here that it was a full house. Lots of new faces and lots of support for those singing. There were people there for just the contest and people there just to sing and dance along. A very good time was had by all. Week two of the contest should be good. I have had three people who i know to be very good singers tell me they would be there this week. That will be on top of the people i haven't heard from.
If you are interested in joining the fun, please send me an e mail and i will tell you how you can join.

Saturday:
I had the honor of playing at the Trough Creek Fire Hall. A cash party, twho hundred tickets sold, a guaranteed crowd! I was excited to se old friends and make new ones. I made a special trip down in the afternoon to set up, just so i wouldn't trouble the crowd while they were eating and the fireman were calling numbers. When i got there, there was a buzz in the air. People were anxious as they called numbers one by one and people were eliminated. I searched for my first song. It had to be perfect. Not too much rap, not too much country. Little kids were already on the dance floor and as they called the last number, I knew my time to shine was near. As i got the ok to start the music i had to make sure that it was not too loud or not too quiet. Everything had to be perfect. I chose as my first song, Don Henly, Dirty Laundry. I pushed play and adjusted the volume. Everything was perfect. As i raised my head to see what i hoped would be a dance floor filled with people, I saw people putting on jackets. Looking for their kids to leave. It was not a good thing. Actually the guys told me later that is has been like that for the last several years and are looking for a way to make it better. So from the over 100 people that were there. Maybe 50 stuck around. By 9 that number was down to maybe 25 and by 10 maybe 15 and i think they were ready to clean up and head home. I guess it was one of those things as a DJ you have to know that there will be bad nights and there will be good nighs. You just do your job and move on. I did get some pics. They are posted here. Including an awkward Brokeback Mountain Moment. Thanks to the Fire Company for having me. Oh i did get a few caricatures in but only handed one of them out to a young boy who is pictured here.

Sunday:
I took my dear friend Angie to lunch and did caricatures of people at the Pizza Star in three springs. I should have taken pictures but didn't

Snow day to draw

Didn't make it to work today.. or did i? I think i was on the air at Q94 but was i there? Hmm..anyhow. I did get to do some drawing with the new Wacom tablet. It is a picture of Flava Flav. I did this all digital, and i think it is a little better than my first attempt at it. Hopefully i will be able to get better with each drawing.

Quick Post

Headed to State College today to pick up a Wacom tablet for my computer. I did a quick drawing with it tonight and feel i may get addicted to it. Here is the drawing. It is of a man who is a member of the National Caricature Network.

After I picked up the tablet i did stop at a local restaurant for some dinner. Sketch book in hand i did a few drawings. One of the waitresses saw me and ask me to do a drawing of her. So i did. It is posted. I have to explain, I would have been freaked out about it a month ago. Then i would have said..umm.. i can't..u not, but she mm.. err.. but today i took a step forward and did it. Not sure if i like it or LOVED it. I am sooooo relieved that she did. Here is a shot with her and the drawing. By the way. Can you guess what the restaurant was?

Mount Union Vets and Huntingdon Elks

Had a great time at the Mount Union VFW Friday night and the Huntingdon Elks Saturday night. Friday the Vets was very busy. As many people as I had seen. A lot of the regulars (MUCH THANKS) and several new faces. Including a woman named Jill, from Burnham, who says sheLink will be coming back for the contest which starts next week. This is the first i blogged in a while but again, plan to do more of it. I should mention if you are reading this before February 15th 2008 and you would like to participate in the Karaoke contest at the Mount Union Vets, send me an e mail and i will get you information. Crap they are giving away 500 bucks!
The huntingdon Elks. It was the first night of entertainment since the opening of the new location. They are now in the old AJ's Building and they REALLY shined it up. It is very very nice. We had a great crowd, as you can see from the photo and a great time. I wasn't to say a special thanks to Jenny, Sonya and Dave. Without them it would not have been such a great night. I hope that I can get back to the Elks club in the near future.
As for this blog, I am going to be adding a bunch of stuff to it soon. I joined the National Caricature Network and will be adding caricatures as i do them, more or less. Hopefully, you will see an improvement as i add.
That's ll for now
