Welcome

Thanks for checking out my work. I appreciate the kind words shared by people visiting this site and try to post new caricatures every week.
I have been drawing all my life, but in 2008 I found the International Society of Caricature Artists
and fell in love with caricatures. I work everyday to improve and hopefully you can see improvements from my first posts here on this blog.
Within the last months (as of August 09) I have stated working on commissions for private parties and corporations. I hope to continue to grow and produce works of art for magazines and other publications.
If your interested, please contact me.
I also do dj and karaoke work. You can also find me on facebook.

Memorial Day weekend 2008

Usually I would say something about Ronnie's Place, but there are previous posts about that. I am happy that we are getting a consistent crowd now. Hope you make it out this Thursday.
Friday there was a bit of confusion with a booking. I thought I was to play the Mount Union Vets, but a miscommunication on both parties kept that from happening. I had no clue what to do on a Friday night without a job. I called a friend and headed to a place called At the Hop. It is the old Louie's Lounge on Short Mountain. There were a few people there for karaoke and Wayne and I did our part by singing a few songs.
After that we headed to the Hotel Belmar in Altoona. I knew there was karaoke there. It was jam packed. We both sang one song. I did Jack and Diane and tried to get one of the women dancing in front
of me to help me with the chorus, but she wouldn't. She danced and that was good enough.
Saturday I had a wedding to start at 3 in the afternoon. It was for the freshly married Mr. and Mrs. Robert Spennati.
I have a slide show of some photos I took there, and if you would like to see more, you can click on the slideshow.
Sunday I did some cleaning at home, worked on some DJ stuff and headed to memories
about 9.
I had a dj gig there that turned into a Karaoke/DJ gig. It was fun and a good crowd. There is a post with photos from Memories for your enjoyment. Oh yea, there is a very attractive woman posing for a photos, red shorts, nice legs, very pretty. I had a guy come ask me to play a Pat Benetar song, Love is a Battlefield. I didn't play it. I was told to do the last call thing and play one more song. I did that and even played another song, pressing my luck. Then out of nowhere this woman comes and asks for that song. I said i couldn't do it and as i said no five times her eyes became more like that of a puppy dog. I said, it was not going to work. No matter how many times she batted those big eyes at me, I was a trained professioanl DJ and when i say no, it is no.
SO after Pat Benetars' Love is a Battlefield, I packed up and headed hom.....WOMEN! Oh i posted her picture again, I told her I wouldn't, even though she wanted me to.....ARGH!
Monday I got awake about 9 a.m. I headed to Mount Union, I was suppose to provide a sound system for a Memorial Day parade and Service. I got there and was told I was not needed that they
tried to contact me and did not hear back from me, so they got someone else. Paul Zook was there ready to set up. I did talk to the people organizing it once, but it was my fault I did not contact them again. Sorry to the people organizing that event. After a short sleep I headed to Wally World. I picked up a few things, A humming bird feeder, a rawhide for Yogi and the DVD August Rush. When I got home I watched that movie. It is a great movie. It had a good message, and believe me, I rarely enjoy messages from new movies. Anyhow, it was one of those "sappy" love story kind of things, but I did enjoy it.
It is Memorial day so a Giant Giant thank you to all who have or are serving in the armed forces. We sometimes take for granted all that they do for us. I hope they forgive us for that, but know how we feel about them and we are thinking about them today. To make this not a deep meaningful post, I found a video of our men serving in the dessert. Enjoy!

A Long Day of Work, Minus A Video and Al Frankin

I am beat and headed to a date with a pillow, but first I though I should Mention that the video I posted earlier was pulled by me, as requested, by a person in the video.
Now, Al Frankin, with whom I am not a fan in any way shape or form. I just did a caricature and thought it turned out ok, so I am posting it. In fact I really don't care for him, but I hope you like the caricature.

A Little Catching Up

I haven't posted any photos from events for a while, so I wanted to do some catching up with that. Again thanks for all who came out and sang. We did do a little DJ stuff toward the end of the night, which I don't have a problem doing, so come on out this Thursday and if you feel like dancing, that's what we will do!
Friday night I was at Memories. It was a good night, but I don't think I ever got in the groove. I think I have been doing the DJ thing long enough to know when I have a groove going. I can look at the people in their seats and see them bumpin with the music. Look at the dance floor and see everyone going to the same beat. I am not sure if it was me or something else going on, but i just didn't feel it. I guess there was a little drama happening there between a few people. That kind of things stinks, because it is something that effects everyone. I have a couple more dates coming up at Memories and hope to make it up to you then.
Saturday I had a 16th birthday party. It got off to a slow start, but thanks to a few guys that were brave enough to do the Cha Cha Slide as well as other line dances, the party got hoppin. We did get the karaoke going and I believe we crated a Karaoke monster. Hopefully we will see this monster at some of the other Karaoke events.
After the Birthday party, I headed to the Eagles Nest, up on the mountain. Broad Top Mountain. I wanted to go check the place out, since i will be playing there June 7th> There was a DJ playing there and I think every person in the bar drove their own car. Some may have driven two. There was a good crowd and I even saw some familiar faces. I hope to have a good time there and more importantly, I hope the people there will have a good time.
After the Eagles Nest A few friends and I headed to Riddlesburg to Lisa's. There was a country band there playing. I forget their name, but they sounded ok and definitely had the crowd jumpin. At 1:45 we headed to Tony's for last call, even though i don't drink, I tagged along. Hung out there for a few then headed home. I guess all in all I got to meet a few people and see a lot of new faces.
Sunday I was planning on going to an abate event near Harrisburg, but it was raining when i got awake and It was cold. I took my dog, Yogi outside and ran him til his tongue was dragging on the ground. I decided to head over to State College and do some drawings. My favorite spot, Hooters. The Penguins were on so I watched them, did a few drawings and then thought I would head for home. A couple guys came in and saw my drawings, they ask me to do one of them. I did and they threw me enough money to break even on my lunch, CoOl!
That's enough for now. I have pictures posted through out this, umm, post, but some are in no particular order I hope you enjoy the reading, and if you feel i need to get a life....let me know.

Weekend Review

This week It was the usual spots for Thursday and Friday Nights. Thursday an nice start to the evening. We have a core group of regulars now. Always looking to add more though. Roy was there and did his version of Van Halen's Jump, which includes him jumping from the stage and on to the tables. I talked with Roy and he mentioned his co-workers might stop out to see him live, in concert sometime soon. I hope they do. I think the karaoke is a little bit of a disease, once you do it, you are hooked. We did have some new visitors to Ronnie's place the week. I believe there were four women from the Lewistown area. Two of them did the Salt n Pepa classic shoop. They were in need of men to buy them drinks and did not stick around long...no one was buying. HAHA.
I do want to explain why there is a missing video on this blog. I took a video of a person singing thursday night. I showed it to that person, that person laughed and said ok when i told that person i was going to post it on youtube. This person then bragged about it to the women from Lewistown. The following night, I played at the Mount Union VFW. When I got home there were two messages on my home phone. The first was the person in the video asking me to take it off youtube or the person lawyers would be contacting me and the person would be suing me. The second message restated the urgency for me to remove the video. This time the perosn said he would be suing me for sexual harassment, if i did not remove the video. That is why i removed it. I was not in fear of being sued, just if i post something and somone does not want it there, i take it down. I did talk with a relative of this person and he said he would be happy to repost the video, if he does, I will relink to it.
Now for Saturday night, Ronnie's Place for a pure DJ night. 1. The night started off very promising. There was a good 25 to 30 people hanging around. Several good looking women. Always a plus for a club. I had people on the dance floor dancing. There were a few more people come in. I was watching the people carefully, as i thought something might be happening. As the clock approached midnight, people started looking at watches, and then, just as if it were the night of the big ball, Cinderella looked at the clock and headed for the door. Three women were ready to leave, so i quickly put on the Cha Cha Slide and i kept them there for another 6 minutes, but after that they did leave. I believe they were headed to another bar. I am not sure why it is, but it happens and i try not to let it bother me. I do hope that a good crowd starts going to Ronnie's for the week. They are good people and I enjoy it there. In fact, Sunday being mothers day, I took mom there for lunch. I had a huge steak that was awesome, my mom had some kind of shrimp that looked good. It must have been she didn't share any with me. We had cheesecake for desert. Great time.
I have some photos i will add later, for now your reading assignment is finished, thanks

1:28 Worth of Karaoke from Ronnie's Place

Carickatures from Bar Crawl

I went to Memories last night. It was Juniata College bar crawl day. A day when the seniors from Juniata hit all the town bars. I got there about 7 and had dinner, broke out the pencil and started doing some sketches. Here are a few, but not all. Some of the caricatures didn't make it out of the bar. Some of them got a little wet. I believe the students that were there will be leaving as of Saturday. I hope they all had a great time. I am slowly getting over the awkwardness of having someone sit in front of me as i draw them. I now have to break the pencil habit and get to the marker. I did do a caricature in marker, but the woman took it to her car before I could get a picture. Well, I will keep on keepin on.

Going Political!

A quick sketch of DICK Murtha. Standing in front of a Soviet and Communist Chinese flag. II also found a pretty interesting video clip. Not that i like to ..well i will let them speak for themselves. Wait, he didn't say anything in this clip. Oh well.

A New Month a New Challange with NCN

Each month the National Caricature Network as a little drawing contest. Last month it was Matt Daemon. This month the contest is to draw Marylin Manson. I made my first effort. Here it is. Yes he is weird, but i don't pick the subject, they do. I am sure i will do a couple more before the end of the month. Enjoy!

Forced Dancing at the Elks?

A good weekend. Thursday at Ronnie's I have pictures but not sure how some people would feel about posting them. The condition they were in. They know who I am talking about. Friday the Mount Union VETS was great. A good crowd and a good amount of singers. There is talk of another contest, but with all the summer activities it will probably have to wait until fall. Saturday i was at the Huntingdon Elks for only the second time. It was an ok crowd. Not as large as the first time i was there, but again, summer always seems a bit less in clubs and events. Unless it is a wedding or something like that. I have the heading Forced dancing, because I did get a good shot of someone who was less than willing to dance.

I have more caricatures to post , but heading off to a job today and will have to wait til another day.

More Memories, More Caricatures

Another night at Memories for a little karaoke and a little drawing. Oh did I mention they make a killer chicken salad? They do. Here are a few of the drawings I did last night. There were more but I either didn't show them to the people or gave them without getting a picture. There was one I did and someone showed it to the woman i was drawing, without me saying it was ok to do that. I think that she didn't like it so much. I thought it looked like her a lot, but she didn't seem to care for it. Oh well. By the way. Some of these drawing the men and women did not smile when I was drawing them and only after I finish did they smile. It's ok.
