Welcome

Thanks for checking out my work. I appreciate the kind words shared by people visiting this site and try to post new caricatures every week.
I have been drawing all my life, but in 2008 I found the International Society of Caricature Artists
and fell in love with caricatures. I work everyday to improve and hopefully you can see improvements from my first posts here on this blog.
Within the last months (as of August 09) I have stated working on commissions for private parties and corporations. I hope to continue to grow and produce works of art for magazines and other publications.
If your interested, please contact me.
I also do dj and karaoke work. You can also find me on facebook.

07/29/07

Another weekend, almost in the books. Wait, is that the saying? I'm not sure. Sunday at 1:24, still not up and motivated to do much. I have some projects i need to finish, but i think that will wait until tomorrow. I believe today will be an r&r day.

Yesterday i Had a couple DJ jobs. One was at 1 in the afternoon, so still being tired from the night before job, I puled myself together as much as i could and went to that job. I was there for three hours. I used a smaller system that i have. It was fun although, it was a graduation party, and not many people. I know is tough to get kids to come out in the middle of the afternoon. Not only tought on a nice day, but yesterday was so humid. It had to be high 80's and high 90's on the humidity.

So i finished the first job, loaded up and went home. Sat around looking at the walls for a half an hour and headed to the second job. I picked up my nephew Jimmy and around 7 we go to the spot. It was in Blacklog Valley back a dirt road. When we were driving there, we had four cars behind us and as we drove up the dirt road we were guided by the cars behind us. When i was making a wrong turn they would blow the horn. I started the music at 8 and as you can see from the pictures on my home page, all had a good time. Well i did think one photo was pretty classic. Here it is.

Enough Said!

7:10 on Thursday evening. I am getting ready to leave for the County Line. I have a dj job there tonight. All week i have been hanging out at the Bedford Fair. Last night was a wash out. It poured . Here is a shot i took while standing under the side of Dick Cummins Tattoo.

I have been drawing charicatures while people are waiting for tattoos. Just practice. I gave a few away and people seemed to like them. I can knock one out in under two minutes and most of them look like the person i am drawing. I remember the first meeting i ever had with a representative of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. He did charicatures and i loved it. I thought that is the one thing i wanted to do, but i have only recently seriously thought about doing it, in public. I am a little worried i will make somone mad, but if they are up for a characiture, they should be up for whatever is given right?

Tuesday and already trouble thinking of titles

Today I have some graphic work to do, then hoping to head to the Bedford County fair. I did get there yesterday. I took my friend Una with me. We walked around the fair a while and then she had a tattoo re colored. Looks good, but looks like it would have hurt. She did something i am not sure i would have done. There is a small building there where you pay a dollar. You get to see all these snakes. I am not a big fan of snakes. You pay another 5 dollars and you get your pic taken with a giant python or something like that. She did it!. Freaky.

After the fair we headed to Altoona and dinner at Don Pablo's. The food was great and the way it is decorated is nice.

Today i have some graphic design work to do, then i am going to try to get to the Bedford Fair again. Dick said if i wanted to set up and do Charactures i could. I may take him up on it.

A Good Weekend

So i had a busy weekend with the DJ stuff. Thursday at the County Line was good. After i got home at three I was up and to the Relay for Life at 9 am. Played there until 10 PM, then went to the County Line again and played til 2. If you were there, you know it was packed! But you also know some people were mis behaving. If you were one of those people, please next time stay home! Although, I doubt you are one of those people, I doubt that kind of person spends much time reading. Saturday I did a private party til 1 am, it was cool and ran into some people i haven't seen in YEARS. man am i getting old. Today is Sunday and I am sorry that i slept til noon. I found a new software last night when i got home and playe with that until 4 am. It is called camtwist. I am off not and heading to the Bedford County Fair to see my friend the tattoo artist. No, I am not getting a tattoo.

More Thailand

Seeing More

After The man gave me a tour of the place where Paew works she took me to a small office space. There was maybe 15 women working there and zero men. She sat me near one of her friends and said she would be back. So I am sitting there with 15 Thai girls and only know a few words in Tha. Mam talked to me. I can not remember the conversation, but i remember feeling strange being there and all eyes being on me.

Paew came back and we went to her office again. Her co-worker, a woman, saw me drawing and ask me to do a drawing of her. I did a quick cartoon of her and i believe she liked it. She did keep it.

I believe we left there and went to get something to eat. We ate a lot there, but it was all healthy, and all delicious.  Each time we would sit to eat and my food was brought to me I would say "Paew I don't think I am going to like this." Finally Paew said "Ricky, if you do not try you should not say that!!". So I tried everything and I liked everything.

So the next day we were going to make a trip to her parents. They live in a different province. Several hours North. After we got awake and showered we just hung around the apartment. i tried to watch TV but didn't understand much of it. Or any of it. I think it was about 4 in the afternoon we headed to a bus station. We were taking the bus to her parents. The bus was leavbing at 7. I really admire Paew for all the thought she put in to my trip. SO we take a taxi to the bus stop. I was thinking a little place with a few peaople standing around. Not so. There were hundreds of people waiting to go every direction. We found, well Paew found where we should be, so we sat and waited. We took our luggage to a certain place and paid some company to watch it until the bus was ready to leave. I remember sitting with a crowd of people while Paew went to the bathroom or to get something and a song came on the telivision. It was to honor the king and everyone stood while the song played. People that were walking stopped and watched the tv. It was amazing. The Thai people love the King.
